Bobcat unveils all-electric machines

Bobcat is showing two electric prototypes at this week’s ConExpo construction trade show: the S7X all-electric skid steer and the RogueX autonomous concept track loader.Like the T7X all-electric compact track loader released in 2022, the S7X is powered by a 60.5-kWh, lithium-ion battery. The electrical powertrain generates instantaneous torque that is said to be as much as three times greater than traditional loaders.Capable for operating for up to eight hours on a single charge, depending on the application, a full charge takes around 10 hours. Still at the prototype stage, the S7X is likely to be earlier to the commercial stage than the second machine on display at the Las Vegas trade show.Flagged up as a machine that explores the capabilities of electric power, autonomous operation, and dual lift-arm geometry, the RogueX is still in the early research and development stage. The idea with the RogueX is to tackle more jobs remotely, with features that allow operators to accomplish more with one machine.Powered by a lithium-ion battery, there are no hydraulics on the conceptual machine although the most striking visible aspect is the lack of a cab.“After our successful development of building the all-electric loader T7X, we wanted to think bigger, broader and take a leap far into the future,” comments  Matt Sagaser, director of innovation accelerated at Bobcat, who adds that the bold approach taken by the innovation team breaks all of the rules. “RogueX sets a framework for what is possible, and our team is just getting started on what is next.”For more up-to-date farming news click here and subscribe now to profi for just £3.99 an issue.
