Fendt heads German tractor market

Fendt accounted for 3,856 units and a leading 23.2% share of the 16,609-strong German tractor market in the first six months of this year.John Deere and Fendt continue to battle it out for pole position, and while Deere registered more new tractors in June, it was Fendt that came out tops overall in the first half of 2023 (John Deere 3,305 units and a 19.9% share of the total market). The gap between the two rivals was much closer in the first half of 2022; Fendt (3,229 units/20.5%) and John Deere (3,208/20.4%).Deutz-Fahr strengthened its third spot ranking with 1,194 units and a 7.2% share of the market (6.6% and 1,042 first six months in 2022), but is closely followed by Claas, which saw its market share increase to 7.1% with 1,177 units (6.5% and 1,023 units in the first half of 2022.)New Holland traded places with Case IH/Steyr, moving up from sixth to fifth spot with 959 units and a 5.8% share of the market (864 and 5.5% in 2022). Case IH/Steyr market share fell from 7.5% (1,182 units) in the first six months of 2022 to 5.8% (956 units) in the same period this year.The best of the rest were Kubota (889 units/5.4%), Valtra (768/4.5%) and Massey Ferguson (740 units/4.5%).Incidentally, the 16,609 new tractors registered in Germany in the first half of this year is a 5.7% increase on the 15,714-unit six-month total in 2022.
