Lemken drops Steketee name

The Steketee brand name is disappearing from its mechanical hoes, which from November this year will be delivered in Lemken blue instead of Steketee red.It is five years since Lemken acquired Steketee, and the full integration of the Dutch manufacturer into the Lemken family is described as an important step that strengthens the company’s position in the industry and lays the foundation for future growth. The focus for next year will be on developing new markets in Europe and overseas.“Steketee customers will benefit greatly from this integration, as they will have access to an expanded range of solutions based on the extensive expertise and experience of both companies,” explains Yves Desjardins, head of sales.Mechanical hoe sales have tripled in recent years and production in Dinteloord, some 30km from the current Dutch site at Stad aan’t Haringvliet, will start in November to produce more machines to keep pace with growing demand. The current team of 60 staff is also expected to double in the next few years.Lemken says that the product portfolio of mechanical hoes and chemical crop protection will be continuously adapted and expanded. The most recent is the company’s first tined weeding harrow, the Thulit. With four beams and eight rows of tines, the Thulit, which was previewed at SIMA last year, will initially be available in limited numbers early next year in widths of 6.0m and 9.0m.For more up-to-date farming news click here and subscribe now to profi for just £3.99 an issue.Share this:TwitterFacebookRedditWhatsApp by Steven Vale More From This Author
